Actions of the armed gang that attacked a Russian Guard unit in Chechnya might have been coordinated from Syria, said on March 24.
"Last night’s incident once again demonstrates that they were not petty hooligans. We are fighting against bandits, against terrorists. They are well-trained, they are backed by certain Western special services, their masterminds are issuing commands from Syria," he said at a meeting with Russian Guard deputy chief Sergei Melikov.
"But the people who are serving in Chechnya and in Russia in general are prepared to defend the state and its people," Kadyrov stressed. According to the National Anti-terrorism Committee, a group of six gunmen staged an armed attack on a Russian Guard unit in Chechnya in the small hours on Friday. All the gunmen were killed in a shootout. The Russian Guard unit lost six servicemen, three more were wounded. Russian President Vladimir Putin described the terrorist attack against the Russian Guard unit in Chechnya as a "gruesome event."
