VfL Wolfsburg will be without Selina Wagner for the final of the UEFA Women's Champions League against Olympique Lyonnais.

The forward sustained a cruciate ligament rupture during the 4-1 Women's Bundesliga victory against Bayer 04 Leverkusen and will be out of action for six months.

The 22-year-old had recently returned from an injury to her other knee and was in contention to start in the European final at Stamford Bridge on 23 May, having scored the opening goal during the 2-1 success in the second leg of the semi-final against Arsenal LFC.

"She has experienced an extreme amount of misfortune with this injury," said coach Ralf Kellermann. "She had just recovered from a different injury and now this. Such a painful experience for a young women like her."

Wolfsburg could secure their maiden Bundesliga title with a game to spare if they draw on Sunday at defending champions 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam, who they will also face in the German Cup final in Cologne.
